Narre Warren Station

Infrastructure

Designed by Denton Corker Marshall, the updated Narre Warren Station delivers a modern station with a landscaped forecourt. Features include waiting rooms and secure Parkiteer bicycle cage, clad in the KeraShape® vertical baguette system.

The KeraShape® system includes a variety of engineered proprietary fixing solutions adaptable to different substrates and design needs. KeraShape® offers glazed and unglazed stoneware ceramic tubular “baguettes,” giving designers multiple options for integrating three-dimensional screening elements into the façade design. This includes the KeraShape “in and out” effect cleverly used in the development of Narre Warren Station.

One significant challenge in this project was installing the cladding 50mm from the wall to achieve a “floating” effect, which complicated the structural support for the baguettes. However, the KeraShape® Baguettes’ easy installation features make them highly desirable for builders and architects due to the efficiency and simplicity of their proprietary fixing system.

Manufactured in Germany by the 260-year-old company Agrob Buchtal, the KeraShape® ceramic façade system offers attributes particularly suited for civic infrastructure projects such as railway stations.

In these high-demand environments, building materials must meet stringent criteria. Architects and engineers require a façade system with:

  • Resistance to scratching, buckling, and fading
  • High impact resistance
  • Graffiti resistance and ease of cleaning
  • Easy removal for access to behind-the-façade services

Thanks to Hytect – an innovative photocatalytic surface finish that transforms ceramic tiles and façade panels such as KeraShape into self-cleaning and air-purifying elements, long-term maintenance costs and conditional warranties are eliminated. For more information on Hytect, see The Game-Changing Hytect Ceramic Surface

The KeraShape® facade system from Agrob Buchtal excels in areas such as high impact, graffiti, scratch, buckling and fading resistance. Backed by extensive independent laboratory testing and certification, KeraShape has become the preferred façade product for infrastructure projects across Australia.
